Legendary Welsh boxer Joe Calzaghe has tipped English boxer Carl Froch to avenge his loss at the hands of Danish boxer Mikkel Kessler when the two go head to head against each other at the end of this month. Calzaghe was the first man who defeated the Danish fighter when the pair met back in 2007, winning via a unanimous decision and the former Super Middleweight champion has labeled that win against Kessler as one of the three biggest wins of his career.
Kessler recovered from that loss in fabulous fashion to defeat Froch via another unanimous decision back in 2010 to claim the World Boxing Council or the WBC Super Middleweight crown. And now, the pair is set to face each other once again with the International Boxing Federation or IBF and World Boxing Association or WBA titles on the line. Froch is the hands down favorite to win the match and Joe Calzaghe is one person who has no arguments against that.
Speaking to Newsletter, Calzaghe stated that the one place where he tips the odds in favor of Froch is that the Englishman has aged a lot better than his Danish counterpart. He mentioned that Kessler is a lot less mobile than he was in his youth and mentioned that hitting him is a lot easier now. Calzaghe also stated that Kessler doesn’t move his head as well now, making him prone to getting hit.
Joe Calzaghe mentioned that Mikkel Kessler has become flat footed now and that is something that will suit Carl Froch a lot. He mentioned that Froch doesn’t like mobile fighters and he struggles against these fighters. The much anticipated rematch between the two is scheduled for the 25th of April at the O2 Arena in London, which will be telecast on ESPN.

The Welshman Boxing star Joe Calzaghe has gotten through all the taunts and has established himself as the British giant who has earned accolades in the United States. A group of fights personalities from New York who are well known as Ring 8 have chosen Calzaghe as the ‘Fighter of the Decade.’ Unfortunately, he could not go collect the award because the flights had to be cancelled because of heavy rain. Nevertheless, what would put peace in Joe is the fact that instead f being jeered by the Americans which most of the European fighters have to deal with, he earned respect from them.
Joe Calzaghe beat many heavyweight fighters such as Oscar de la Hoya, Bernard Hopkins, Floyd Mayweather Jnr, Manny Pacquiao and Roy Jones. He has 22 world championships to his name. He has made a record of 46 wins in all the 46 fights and this record is still unbeaten although he has retired for quite a while now. Having heard about his new achievement he said to the reports that he felt extremely honored. “It’s a pleasant feeling knowing what I did in my career hasn’t been forgotten.”- said the beaming Joe Calzaghe.
Calzaghe said that he still missed boxing and this award has begun making him miss it even more. But it has no seeds of rumor with it which can say that he might be coming back. Calzaghe has ruled out that possibility saying that was not going to be possible and he jokingly said that he would reconsider if only offered £20million.
Carl Froch is another such who is an able successor to Joe Calzaghe in the 12-stone division. He would be facing Denmark’s Mikkel Kessler at London’s O2 Arena for a world unification clash. Calzaghe is hopeful that Froch can defeat Kessler.
