@Ayefreako Because the referee was seperating the fighters and wanted them to step backwards, so Hopkins did and touched the rope.

@Ayefreako He took a step backwards at the ref’s command. He wasn’t pushed by back the referee’s ferocious strength, he was instructed to step backwards as per the rules of every boxing match ever, and he abliged.
